SMP Billing Policy
Our aim is to provide patients with a clear and consistent billing policy so that patients are fully aware of the costs associated with all of our services.
All consultation fees are payable in full at the time of consultation by cash, credit card or EFTPOS. Accounts will not be given. We use Medicare Online to promptly process your Medicare Rebate. If you have registered your bank details with Medicare, your rebate can be claimed at the conclusion of your consultation. NOTE: It is your responsibility to lodge bank details with Medicare.
Patients without a Medicare card will be requested to pay the full amount for the consultation on the day of the visit.
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO BILLING
Our fees have recently increased. Why?
– because GP practices also face increases in costs. Scone Medical Practice needs to be sustainable to continue to provide long term, high quality care for our community.
– because we are aiming to attract more doctors to offer their services here so there is better service to patients - there are costs involved to do this.
Our patients are important to us and we are aiming to provide the best service possible. These changes will come into effect from MONDAY 28th August 2023
- Private fee $46.10, concession rates and rebates available
- Aged care pensioners will be bulk-billed under their GP
- INR testing without GP consult will incur a $16.50 flat private fee, no rebates or concessions available
Appointment Cancellation & Non-Attendance Policy
Scone Medical Practice is a busy practice, and our appointments are in high demand.
This cancellation/ Non-Attendance policy is designed to ensure fairness to other patients waiting for appointments and doctors who are striving to meet the demand for their services. Your appointment time is reserved especially for you, but we understand that plans change and appointments need to be rescheduled or cancelled. When a patient does not show for a scheduled appointment, it means that another patient loses an opportunity to be seen.
Under this cancellation / Non-Attendance policy, our doctors appreciate your co-operation as below;
A minimum of 3 Hours notice, prior to your appointment time, is required for cancellation or changes to your appointment
Patients not attending or cancelling their appointment within 3 hours of their scheduled appointment time will be charged a non-attendance fee
The non-attendance fee for a standard appointment is currently $70 and a long appointment is $120
Please note that until non-attendance fees are settled, no further bookings will be available to you
